Cheers to Mom: The Ultimate Raspberry Cranberry “Momosas” for a Special Mother’s Day Brunch
Mother’s Day is a truly special occasion, a time dedicated to honoring the incredible women who shape our lives. Whether they are birth mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, aunts, or cherished mentors, their unwavering love, endless support, and countless sacrifices deserve to be celebrated in the most heartfelt way. This year, we’re making it extra special with a delightful and effortlessly elegant concoction: Raspberry Cranberry “Momosas.” And speaking of incredible moms, this post is particularly dedicated to mine.
My Mom, The Unforgettable Legend
Alright, let’s talk about my mom. Hi Mom! If you know her, you know she’s not just a mom; she’s *the* fun mom. Picture Regina George’s mom from Mean Girls, but with genuine, effortless coolness. She doesn’t need a pink velour jumpsuit or a teacup Chihuahua to prove it. Instead, her “cool mom” credentials come from her unique blend of humor, spontaneity, and unconditional love. She’s the one sending me hilariously inappropriate memes that perfectly capture the absurdity of life, or surprising me with equally inappropriate (but always spot-on) gifts whenever I’m having a rough week, or simply because the mood strikes her. Need her? She’ll be on a plane the next day – and yes, that has happened more than once.
Her generosity knows no bounds. She’ll joyously watch my children for two weeks without a moment’s hesitation, transforming my house into the cleanest it’s ever been in the process. Then, as if that weren’t enough, she’ll return with a gift card for a much-needed mani-pedi, knowing exactly what I’ll require after a busy period. If that’s not the epitome of the best mom ever, I truly don’t know what is. In my house, she’s affectionately known as Grandma, because my kids, bless their hearts, are still convinced she couldn’t possibly be *my* mom too.
The Profound Journey of Motherhood
It’s funny how life works. I truly never grasped the monumental effort, the boundless patience, and the profound love my mom poured into raising me and my siblings until I had children of my own. Those late nights comforting a fussy baby, the shockingly early mornings that defy the laws of sleep, the relentless whining (oh, the whining!) – it all hits differently when you’re in the thick of it. The constant patience required, the daily sacrifices made, the endless worrying about every single thing under the sun, from scraped knees to future hopes and dreams. My kids are still young, so I’m only six years into this incredible, exhausting, and utterly rewarding journey, but even this short time has given me a newfound, deep appreciation for everything my mom did.
Of course, interwoven with these challenges are moments of pure, unadulterated bliss. The first time your baby smiles, their infectious laughter echoing through the house, those precious snuggles that melt away all stress, the first whispered “I love you, Mommy,” and those bursts of pride so intense you feel your heart might explode. Thank goodness for those moments! Without these heartwarming milestones, the journey of parenting would undoubtedly be far more arduous, and I have a feeling alcohol sales would skyrocket even further than they already do. I kid, I kid… or do I?

Crafting the Ideal Mother’s Day Brunch Experience
If you’re envisioning the classic breakfast-in-bed scenario for Mother’s Day, then these Momosas are the perfect accompaniment. To truly elevate the experience, pair them with a decadent and comforting dish. I highly recommend checking out these crispy strawberry waffles. Imagine golden, crispy waffles bursting with fresh strawberry flavor, alongside a steaming cup of her favorite coffee. Arrange it all beautifully on a tray, perhaps with a small vase of her favorite flowers, and present her with a fantastic, homemade Mother’s Day breakfast in bed. These thoughtful details make all the difference, transforming a simple meal into an unforgettable celebration of her day.
Just a friendly tip from one child to another: make sure this glorious breakfast isn’t served before 10 AM (unless she’s an early bird!) and that the kitchen is impeccably clean when she eventually emerges to thank you for her delicious meal. These small considerations speak volumes about your thoughtfulness and appreciation. Creating a serene and enjoyable environment is just as important as the delicious food and drinks themselves, making it a truly stress-free and special moment for her.
A Glimpse into My Childhood, Courtesy of Mom
As a bonus – and my mom might just disown me for this – I’m going to give you a little peek into what I was like as a child. This comes straight from an email I received from her when I first started this blog. It perfectly encapsulates her unique blend of pride, love, and hilarious maternal guilt. Here it is, in all its unedited glory (sorry, Mom!).

Dear Sam,I LOVE LOVE LOVE your website and blog! Such beauty, creativity and elegance, just like the author! However, I would like you to please be aware of a couple of things: be mindful of grammatical errors, and your mother being completely absent from your photo shoots.
As a long time admirer of you and your work – I recall that in second grade you made me a ring holder I still have at my kitchen sink, a set of pickle tines I treasure from your class trip to Philipsburgh Manor, a butter knife with a purple grape handle you gave me, boxes of drawings, literature, poetry, class trips, lost teeth, clips of your first hair, your first pair of boots (yellow, with deer pictures on the side), your first leotard, your party dress, and a velvet dress you wore when you were 5, and many other memorabilia- I am dismayed at your lack of Mama Love and Public Display of Motherly Devotion. THERE IS NOT ONE PICTURE OF ME ON YOUR WEBSITE and what’s even worse is that there is no MENTION of my dedication and sacrifice as the mother of a child who whimpered that kidnappers were going to steal her in the middle of the night, cries of NOT FAIR! when Justin received a tablespoon more orange juice than you in your sippy cup, whinings with no end about playdates, Oompah Loompah terrors, Wee Sing requests that led both you and I to see separate therapists over stuffed skunks singing Sally is Wearing a Red Dress one million times, wails if you did not know where a shred of blankie had disappeared, non-stop discussions over light up sneakers, and the week long anxiety sessions before your pediatric appointments when shots were scarier than Jason on Friday the 13th,
Just letting you know I love what you do and who you have become, and if I ever find blankie I will personally deliver it to your door, because that is what mothers do, despite the desperate pain of separation they experience, coupled with the stabbing in the heart from the disillusionment of children who believe they are too grown up to mention their successes all stem from their mothers.
I just don’t want to be dead before I can enjoy all the acknowledgement. See if you can do something,
Love you!
Mom
